- Prep Time : 15 minutes
- Cook Time : 25 minutes
- Yield : 4-6
Ingredients
- Fully cooked, smoked bratwurst - 1 package (14 oz)
- bacon - 6 slices
- light brown sugar - 1/2 Cup
- dry mustard - 1 tsp
- toothpicks
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Line baking sheet with parchment paper (This will speed up cleanup later)
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and dry mustard.
Cut each brat into three pieces. Cut each bacon slice into three pieces as well.
Wrap each brat piece with a bacon piece and secure with a toothpick.
Coat each bacon wrapped brat piece with the brown sugar and mustard mixture and place on the baking sheet.
Bake brats for 25-30 minutes or until bacon is crispy.
Note: These will produce some grease while cooking. If necessary, you can place the brats on some paper towels to absorb some of the grease before serving.
Serve plain or with some of your favorite sauces. We suggest the South Carolina Mustard Sauce.
Bacon Wrapped Brats are deliciously sweet and savory.
This Bacon Wrapped Brats recipe uses a brown sugar and dry mustard “rub”, for a lack of a better term, which gives them a sweet and tangy sort of crust. You can also substitute Lil Smokies instead of brats if you like. For an even more flavorful experience, try adding a side of South Carolina Mustard Sauce to dip these in. They really are amazing together.
